The Springdale Bistro at Lucy Corr was transformed into a lively casino floor on Friday, March 20, as Independent Living residents welcomed guests from the broader community for an evening of games, food and conversation.

Roulette wheels spun, cards were dealt and dice rolled as attendees moved between tables for blackjack, craps and Texas Hold ’em. While no money changed hands, winnings were converted into raffle entries, keeping the focus on fun and friendly competition. The event drew current independent living residents and invited guests interested in learning more about life at Lucy Corr.

“We wanted a way to get new people to visit the building and have residents enjoy themselves,” said Cassandra Mitchell, sales and marketing manager for Independent Living. She was inspired by residents who enjoy casino outings and wanted to bring the experience closer to home.

For many, the evening created a relaxed setting to talk openly about independent living, from timing a move to joining a waitlist. Residents who have already made the transition and Lucy Corr leaders were available to answer questions. The casual atmosphere helped foster candid, one-on-one chats alongside laughter and shared meals.

“It feels great to see smiles on everyone’s faces,” Mitchell said. “I mean, that’s what we’re here for — not just to be a support, but to have fun and fellowship and good times.”
