John Hilliard, Jr., a longtime volunteer and valued member of the Lucy Corr community, was recently inducted into the Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame.

The forty-fourth annual Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame ceremony was held on June 4 at the Beulah Recreation Center in North Chesterfield, with Lucy Corr leaders — including CEO Michael Cunningham — in attendance. The program honors residents age 60 and older who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to community service.

This year’s 12 nominees collectively contributed more than 137,000 hours of volunteer service, with three individuals selected for induction into the Hall of Fame. John was nominated by members of Lucy Corr’s senior staff.

“Lucy Corr extends its sincere congratulations and heartfelt appreciation for the leadership, service and compassion John continues to share with Chesterfield County,” said Cunningham.

John’s recognition results from decades of meaningful service to Chesterfield County. Since 2023, he has served as an appointed commissioner on the Health Center Commission for the County of Chesterfield, the governing body that operates Lucy Corr. In this role, he chairs the commission’s Human Resources Committee and brings valuable leadership experience from a long career in health care administration and emergency medical services.

In addition to his work with Lucy Corr, John has devoted 59 years to volunteer service with the Forest View Volunteer Rescue Squad, including 20 years since turning 60. His leadership roles with the rescue squad and other county organizations — including committees related to emergency response, budgeting and parks and recreation — demonstrate a lifelong commitment to strengthening the community he calls home.

John was inducted into the Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame alongside fellow honorees David Lipp and Edith Lumpkin, each recognized for their outstanding contributions to public safety and community well-being.
