Hospital case managers, social workers and admissions staff visited Lucy Corr on Sept. 10 for the community’s first networking event built for its referral partners.
Guests gathered in the Mast Auditorium over shrimp cocktail, Mediterranean seafood salad, charcuterie cups and caprese skewers, washed down with a Moscato mixed berry wine punch. Guided tours set out every 30 minutes, with stops that included the Rehabilitation Center. The evening wrapped with gift card drawings and a takeaway bag for every guest.
The event was the idea of Keisha Baxter, director of admissions, who works with many of the attendees daily and wanted to give them a reason to visit.
“They’re referring to me all the time, but probably have never been here,” she said.
Community partners came, too, including Dan Buyas, health care specialist with Care Advantage In-Home Care Services.
“Transitioning a patient from a hospital bed to the next level of care requires absolute teamwork,” Buyas said. “On-site events give us the face-to-face connection needed to build seamless partnerships, simplify the discharge process for families and ultimately prevent unnecessary hospital readmissions.”
By welcoming established health care partners, Lucy Corr offered a close, in-person look at the facility to those who recommend it to families throughout the Richmond region.
